Monica Gilroy Elected to Executive Committee of GBA Real Property Law Section

Monica K. Gilroy, one of the two founding partners of the residential and commercial real estate and litigation law The Gilroy Firm, has been elected to a three-year term on the executive committee of the Georgia Bar Association’s Real Property Law Section.

The Real Property Law Section, which has more than 2,600 members, is the largest section of the Georgia Bar Association. The section actively sponsors continuing legal education; promotes cooperation with other professional and business groups engaged in related activities; and studies, reviews, or initiates proposed legislation or administrative policy designed to improve real property law in Georgia.

Ms Gilroy leads Gilroy Firm’s litigation department. Her litigation practice focuses on all aspects of real estate litigation, including foreclosure and title disputes, broker and agent liability defense, mortgage fraud-related litigation and civil and commercial contract disputes.

A resident of Alpharetta, she serves as counsel for many national and local banks, mortgage companies and real estate industry lenders and leaders. She also practiced for several years in the areas of estate and trust litigation and serves regularly as a Special Master in Fulton County, Georgia. Ms. Gilroy holds an AV-peer review rating with Martindale Hubbell.

She received her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Wisconsin in 1990 and a J.D. from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 1993. She also attended the Ealing College of Higher Education in a study abroad program in 1989.

She has been member of the State Bar of Georgia since 1993, she is also a member of the Lawyers Club of Atlanta, the Georgia Women’ Lawyer’s Association, and the Atlanta Volunteer Lawyers Foundation. She is a contributing writer to Foreclosure Law and Related Remedies: a State-by-State Digestwhich is published by the American Bar Association.
